RLW served as a key subcontractor for earthwork and utilities for the construction of a new 270-acre mission critical data center campus. Our scope included excavation; mass grading; striping of topsoil; drilling and blasting; underground water, sewer, and drainage utilities, along with temporary and permanent roads and building foundations. RLW’s modeling efforts helped the project team quickly vet design alternatives based on cost, constructability, and phasing. The team developed 3D model from a 2D plan set through close coordination with various design disciplines. These efforts reduced earthwork costs on the project by balancing earthwork on the site, reducing import material, and reducing blasting.
