Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction is restoring and seismically upgrading a historic, century-old train depot that sustained significant earthquake damage.

Our team developed innovative construction methods and value engineering solutions to address complex challenges with concrete foundations, footing retrofits, and shotcrete shear walls—all while preserving the depot’s architectural integrity. To support this effort, our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) team conducted a comprehensive LiDAR scan and created a highly detailed 3D model of the structure. This digital twin allowed us to meticulously plan our approach, identify conflicts early, and coordinate work across disciplines. The result was a streamlined, efficient construction process that protected historic elements while delivering essential structural improvements to walls, columns, and foundations.
