Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction participated in the preconstruction phase of a program to repair earthquake damage on an historic century-old train depot and retrofit for resilience to future earthquakes. The team developed construction means and methods and offered several value engineering alternatives for concrete foundation, footing retrofits, and shotcrete shear walls, and performed a LiDAR scan and created a 3D model to plan our construction approach, access, and equipment to preserve the building’s architectural elements. The project sequence was also evaluated in 4D modeling to determine efficiencies and conflicts of the schedule ultimately resulting in less overall time in project delivery.
