Project Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

·         Assists Project Superintendents by:

·         Assisting in public relations, claims, subcontractor back charges, and force account work

·         Assisting in ensuring project’s contractor performance rating above 90 percent

·         Assists Project Managers by:

·         Processing all documents required to start-up project as outlined in project checklist.

·         Sub Contractor Coordination

·         Tracking quantities to ensure accurate payment by Owner.

·         Managing Blue Stakes.

·         Reviewing budgets and adjust job costing.

·         Managing change order correspondence and tracking

·         Assists and Ensures timely and accurate Project close outs

·         Scheduling

·         Onsite decisions and problem solving

·         Acts as a company liaison with Project Owner and all Subcontractors.

·         Assist Superintdents with emergency purchases under $500.00 and secure temporary P.O. numbers.

Education and/or Experience                  

Bachelor's degree (B.A, P.E.) from four-year college, technical school or university in Engineering or Construction Management preferred plus up to two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification(s)

            None required.

Language Skills                  

Ability to read (in English), analyze and respond to engineering drawings, technical plans, purchase orders, and contracts. Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills                   

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations and calculate mathematical extensions. Good knowledge of geometric formulas and equations are required to calculate area, volume, etc. in performing take-offs.

Reasoning Ability                  

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. General understanding of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing.

Computer Skills                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an excellent knowledge of Estimating & Scheduling software is a plus; Internet and Project Management software; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software is mandatory.
