West Valley Airport-2008

This project is a CMGC project for UTA (Utah Transit Authority). RLW is a CMGC partner with Stacy and Witbeck / Kiewit Joint Venture. The project that is slated to be completed in 2010. RLW’s portion of the work consists of 2 Bridge Structures and a UPRR maintenance facility building. The Roper Yard Flyover is a 780 foot long steel girder structure that will allow the West Valley Light Rail line to run from downtown Salt Lake to West Valley City Hall.

The Flyover is located in the UPRR Roper rail yard and will cross 15 sets of tracks. The girders will be the largest steel girders fabricated for use in the state of Utah.

The 600 West structure is a 132 foot steel girder bridge over 600 West near the Roper Yard and is also part of the West Valley Light Rail line.

The UPRR Maintenance facility building relocates the existing UPRR building. The existing UPRR building is being relocated so that Pier 2 of the Roper Flyover can be constructed.

Front Runner South-2008

This project is a UTA CMGC project that extends the Front Runner North project 45 miles from downtown Salt Lake to Provo. RLW is working in conjunction with CRC, a Stacy and Witbeck Inc. / Herzog Joint Venture. RLW’s portion of work consists of approximately 30 various bridges for UTA and UPRR, 642 foot long Flyover Bridge Structure, 2 soil nail retaining walls, a box culvert, concrete lined canal, and a challenging concrete pedestrian underpass / train station located in Lehi.

The flyover incorporates 6 each 10 foot diameter drilled shafts, 2 of the shafts are 130 in depth. The structure also utilizes 2 straddle bents with post tensioning tendons.

Many of the structures will utilize box beam girders that will help RLW to meet the rigorous construction schedule that this project demands. RLW is working in very closely with the general contractor and the designers to help with constructability design and construction means and methods to help complete this project by the end of 2011.

UTA Commuter Rail - 2005

As part of a $581 million, 35-mile, 8-station FrontRunner commuter-rail line that began operations in the Spring of 2008, Wadsworth’s scope of work for the project included the construction of two major bridge structures erected over the Union Pacific Railroad yard with combined lengths of 1,993 feet, 30,500 square feet of permanent shoring retaining walls containing soldier pile, and lagging and over 16,000 square feet of shot-crete style retaining walls. Wadsworth received the INTERMOUNTAIN CONTRACTOR’S BEST OF 2007 award in the BEST CONCRETE PROJECT category for work completed on this project. The Company partnered with CRC which is a joint venture of Stacy & Witbeck, Inc., and Herzog Contracting Corp.
