RALPH L. WADSWORTH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY ANNOUNCES $250,000 FUND-RAISING EFFORT FOR THE UTAH NATIONAL GUARD FOUNDATION FOR FAMILIES, INC. GOVERNOR HUNTSMAN APPLAUDS EFFORT.

DRAPER, Utah, August 2, 2005 -- Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company Inc. (Wadsworth) announced today that the Company is sponsoring a major fund-raising campaign on behalf of The Utah National Guard Foundation For Families, Inc. The campaign’s goal for corporate and individual pledges is $250,000, to be accomplished by September 17, 2005. The Foundation is a 12-year old non-profit Utah corporation that was created in 1993 after Desert Storm I to help prepare and assist the families of Utah National Guard service members in the event of mobilization.

Kip L. Wadsworth, president and CEO said, “As part of our Company’s 30-year anniversary this year, we wanted to give something back to our community. After doing some research, we found that there’s an extremely great need to financially aid some of the families of the men and women serving our country who’ve been deployed overseas.”

Mr. Wadsworth continued, “When the Guard’s service members are deployed, they often leave secure, well-paying jobs for lower military pay. Some families immediately feel the financial pinch and have trouble meeting mortgage, utility, medical, food, clothing and other obligations. In addition, when our troops are deployed and put their life on the line, a variety of other special needs for spouses and children surface – from psychological counseling to caring for soldiers wounded in battle – all of which cost substantial amounts of money. Also, what’s a wife to do if the house needs a major repair, or the clothes washer or car breaks down while the husband is away for a year or more? Especially if his military pay is half of what it used to be. This fund-raiser is intended to help meet some of those needs.”

Commenting on the fund-raising effort this week, Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. said, “The Utah National Guard’s Foundation for Families plays a vitally important role in assisting military families while their loved ones are serving our nation. I encourage your support of this great organization and applaud them for their great concern for Utah’s service men and women and their families.”

Wadsworth invites all Utah businesses and individuals to participate in this worthy effort – to help the families of those who put their lives on the line to protect our freedom. As of August 2, 2005, Utah businesses and individuals have pledged over $111,000. For information about making a taxdeductible pledge, please contact Kevan at (801) 553-1661 or send an email to kevan@wadsco.com. The campaign’s culminating fund-raising event will be a 5K run / walk on September 17, 2005.
